AI name generator - attempt 1 - spolier the result was meh!
Aim:
Create a AI name generator, can be used for creating product names, company names, or naming characters for next novel.
Input: Give a description of how you want the name to sound like
Output: A list of names
Steps:
Downloaded the dataset of names from here
Prepared the data according to the cohere’s fine tuning blog
Used vim to add --SEPERATOR-- between each line, (how do non technies do this kind of data preparation?)
The result looked something like this:
After data preperation, submitted the data file in cohere for training.
This is the output:
Conclusion
The results of the name generator were very bad. Though it’s the data, the I submitted a bunch of names without any description or prompt, so ofc the AI would have no way to learn these characteristic. I think we’ll able to produce a better name generator, but I am not particularly excited about continuing this project.
I didn’t particularly like cohere’s docs and training process.
In the doc, they gave an example on how to generate a haiku, but the example didn’t work, bummer!
There was no indication on how much time the finetuning process will take.
The UI is weird, idk why they needed to make it look like windows 95
